Robert Randy

Topic: BirthdayPoems

Robert Randy,
Robert Randy!
Dance your jig;
we'll call you Dandy!

Happy birthday, Robert Randy!
May this be the best one yet.
May God zap you on you noggin'...
'till His love you don't forget!

Oh, I love you, Precious Son,
through all your changing phases;
I've loved you, baby, child, and teen,
and now, your adult faces.
I see your precious baby face,...
wide-eyed, innocent, and sweet,...
such a beautiful baby you were
from your head down to your feet.

Your growing years, often full of hurts,
were full of wondrous graces.
My pictures of your zest for life,
time never quite erases.
Oh, Son, through times, discouraging,
'tis not neccessarily you;
keep seeking and seeking and seeking
'till you find the Way, tried and true.

As you say good-bye to your yesterdays,...
don't worry, nor cry, nor fret;...
today is the day that's important now
for sweeter horizons yet.

I see a new face coming,...
a dawning, just up ahead.
Though we dream, the unknown is fearful...
and we're oft' overcome with dread.
But, dream on, my magnificent dreamer!
Jump into it! Risk! Go ahead!
God filled up
with more than we've dreamed of;...
'He don't make no junk,' its been said.

So,... Happy birthday, Robert Randy!
May you dance a new jig,...
sing a new song,...
dream a new dream,...
love with new love,...
and praise God for His tune
all your life long.

G.F.R. Coykendall, November, 1981

Dear Percursor, I've tried to thank you several times, but something isn't working. I think the problem may be with our server or maybe with poetry.com, as that is the point where I find the greates difficulty. Hope you are thanked this time. Love, Grandma Bizzy
