While I stand by
His eyes close
A hand rises to the bridge of his nose
Squeeze, then a sigh
Slowly he rises from the chair.
I stand by
My hands clench
Shoulders tighten
I’m in the way again
Did the wrong thing.
As I stand by
He fulfils my request
“There”
His words as he walks out of the room
A thank you repeated, once, twice, three times.
I stand by
Tears fill my eyes
Sorry bubbles in my chest
Too late
I’ve annoyed him again.

This reminds me so much of my own father... But unlike you, I do not have the courage to write about such things at the time... Thank you for sharing this, it has opened my eyes... |
