insomniac

I lay awake at night
Tracing patterns on the ceiling
That are invisible to all but me
My eyelids don't feel heavy
My breath isn't slow or steady
And sleep isn't slowing my brain
I'm an insomniac
My mind is rarely slowed
I think number patterns in my mind
The night is my cover
Days go by
Without an hour of sleep
Saturdays are when my body
Finally decides to rest
But as I lay awake at night
My mind is filled with you
As my body once was
I see your face, your eyes
I feel your gentle fingers caressing my body
And your hips moving against mine
Intoxicating is the only thing I can call this
But when I open my eyes, it's all gone
I'm simply surrounded by darkness
There is no light for the insomniac...
