Sleepless Dreams

Contributed by rmarino on Friday, 15th May 2009 @ 12:22:01 AM in AEST
Topic: abstract

A Cigarette lies in an ashtray
Softly whispering secrets to a passerby
I’m left to ponder the night sky
Alone, lifeless and petty sits my pen on the hard wood floor
Maybe at this moment I’m crossing through someone’s head as
A thought, a memory, an illusion

She starts to cry in her sleep
A life of unanswered questions and nothing but time to think
I don’t sleep because my dreams fill me with hope
And I am left to awake to a town full of ghosts

I will never speak of my past again

Scratch marks lay on the back of the wooden closet door
Something went wrong
Or something went right
Who am I to make that decision?
Two sides to every story
Two sides to every evil
There is no right
Or so she says…

Love, Lust and Lies
No truth these days
What you give is what you get
And karma is a *****
Honestly, Honesty fell faster from her lips to the ground than a bullet fired into my gut

Track marks line these city streets
A more ***** up Hansel and Gretel story
Finding my way home through a dumpster
Ready to dig myself into an early grave
The drunken hobo on the corner is the sanest person I’ve met in months

Hope – The evilest evil, evil could possibly create
What’s left after hope but to fall?
Expect the worst, no
Expect nothing and you will never be disappointed

I have nothing left to lose

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
