without bones to shatter; I am.

Contributed by FleurdeSang on Wednesday, 13th May 2009 @ 09:55:15 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

It is a day of death.

my ribs shift and tremble
ready to collapse one final time before I say
I love you

before I scream
- adore you
infinitely, even though I am far from a god
even if faith swings, breathless, from my upturned wrists

they smile for you

as I often do
when I try to hide the ugliness
that sometimes reminds me
of you

forgive this selfish longing.

it harbors no scent of your fractured dreams,
no violent winds, no salvation,

I am cradled in your filth,
that is actually my mirror

but why suffer so?
why long for such untouchable ghosts?
why keep drowning in a flame that does not resurrect?

It is a day of red fingers, and forced silence.

I abandon the needle,
and tear the childish patchwork I made
in attempts to save my heart from
losing hope in
love.

in you

{ I regret your light. }

Do you ever hear me beneath your shadow?

rotting?

It is a day of death.

And I have never been more perfect.

Steph,
this brought tears to my eyes. I felt every single beat of your heart and soul within this verse. You always capture the very being of your soul within your poetry sweet lady.

Hugs you tight
Michelle

Oh Steph this shattered me! You, my dear girl have such a depth when it
comes to emotion. With but a word or phrase you could manipulate a heart
of stone. It is a gift I am continually impressed by. If you posted this under
any but anguish, I might be convinced it was more beautiful. But the torment
in here is evident.

Sweetie, you bleed passion. All one has to do is read anything you've written
to know this. Always a pleasure visiting your page, even through the anguish
and pain. Brilliant, dear Stephy. Your star shines regardless.

*huge hugs*

~ Breezy
