“Worms for Breakfast,
For Dinner, and for Tea,
Oh, how I wish for
A richer delicacy!
If I were an Osprey
Salmon or Trout I would eat;
From Scotland’s many Lochs
I’d enjoy fishing for my treat.
If I were a Vulture
Soaring high above desert sand
I’d soon find a carcass
Where spare ribs would be so grand.
If I were a Song Thrush
I’d dine on escargot,
Relishing every morsel
My pleasure would really show.
Alas, it’s not to be,
A mere Blackbird am I,
So, I must be content
Yet, dream on with a wistful sigh…

I knew I was going to love this poem. It has a nice humorous tone. You doing a great job expressing the lamentations of the blackbird. Very nice. I will have to check out more of your writing. Again, it was an honor to read. |
