There Is Work to Do
An angled gaze at a window,
Behind a sagging tree
Through the highs of roof tops
Is where I’m meant to be.
Soaring over cities
Over oceans wide
Through the thick of forests
I just can’t miss this ride.
In the mind of babies
Through the children’s lies
Out the old and lonely
My how time can fly
Eyes that open glassy
Knuckles in my skin
The desk under my elbow,
There’s work I must begin.
