Eclipse

That first time we met... you, with your smile, took me for a car ride
Dirty inside, with an air-freshener, whose sent won't last much longer
We laid on the beach, and a cord around my heart you tied
A thin red cord, so easily broken; but we're tying it stronger

A bright sphere of fire, in the sky, and reflected in my heart
That night after we came back, you and I stayed in that old car
And we bridged the great divide of lonliness that keeps souls apart
We stepped out, illumined by the radiant specks, a beam for each star

On a blanket in a field we kissed, the watchful eye of Heaven looking down
I have a lost love for every hundred stellar lights, enough to burn the world
But enough of that; I'm here with you now, and in my heart, big and round
Is a red sun that will forever outlast the myriad stars of lost loves unfurled

I didn't realise how late it was; alone with you life passes by, yet timeless
I left late that night, at almost one, and fell asleep as soon as I hit the bed
I drempt of a big red sun, my mouth forming sounds ineffable and rhymeless
The white moon of my heart eclipsed by the red sun of your heart, blood-red

And a couple days later I drove up to your place, to be with you once more
The two cords we've woven quite strong now, a white and red one together
Played a movie, but I was busy being eclipsed by the sun I saw on the shore
I left the next day; caring this ruddy sphere in my chest, I'll carry it forever

I called you and talked with you awhile-- no wait, it was actually two hours
That's a record for us, we usually talk much longer, weaving cords on a loom
While we converse, and watching overhead, as wheeling by go stars and powers
A lonely night eye rolling-- a ghostly glow you carry in your heart, the white moon

Sun and moon, stars and powers, you aligned for me this time
And that big red sun, that source of life, I'll keep you in my heart
As I give away the white moon, the only posession that's really mine
So smile; As long as you hold the moon, and I the sun, we'll never be apart

Eclipse the moon, red sun!

I've never thought to compare love and an eclipse, but it makes sense to me know: an eclipse blocks out the rays of the sun, making it nearly impossible to see anything, as love blocks out peripheral vision, making it extremely difficult to see much else but the beauty in front of you. I like your connections. Keep it up! :)

I love the metaphor used. Your word choice is amazing. Your writing is truly magical. Keep up the great writing!
