My eyes ached, they felt red raw
I held the phone to my ear
I knew you’d not answer it, it was too late
I just wanted to hear your voice
There was no comforting me
Only you could do that
I wanted you to tell me everything was going to be ok
And that I wasn’t alone
I kept the phone to my ear
Waiting for the ringing to end
And to be replaced by your voice
Maybe then I would be comforted
The first couple of days were the worst
People coming around saying they were sorry
And trying to comfort me
Holding me tight to their chests
But when I started screaming
And crying that only you could comfort me
They all drifted away
Because their was nothing they could do
Finally the ringing stops
And for I second I think it’s you
But then your familiar voice
Asks me to leave a message
My message is a mixture of sobs
And I miss you’s, and pleas for you to come back
But I know it’s useless
And you won’t ever come back
I need you now more than ever
It’s been three years
And I still keep your mobile in a draw
So when I need to I can hear your voice
When they first said that he was sick
It was history repeated, it was just like with you
The same white walls, the same purple chairs
The same sorrowful looking nurse
Now I’m ringing you mum,
To ask you to comfort me
Because now that dads gone
I’m all alone.

I cried through this... so I guess its done its job. It's a horrible thought when anybody you love has suddenly gone. I think you've captured the emotions perfectly with this piece. (: |
