A Twisted Mind

Contributed by Fiona on Wednesday, 26th March 2003 @ 08:45:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

My pillow is soasked
My eyes are red
All these thoughts jumbled in my head

The tears keep coming
They follow the pain
For in this hell is where I remain

My face is tear stained
My body can't feel
And I ask myself "Can this be real?"

Just to be thinner
Is all I want to be
A size 7 doesn't work
I want to be a 3

I don't care what it takes
I won't even eat
My life consists of hate and deceit

Th dream of perfection
It's one little goal
To love myself and body as a whole

In so very frustrated
What do I do ?
Is it so much to ask
To wear a size 2

Just to be perfect
Is all I want anymore
But I'm getting closer
I'm down to a four

My family is worried
My friends are in fear
But it all equals out
Because we cry the same tears

Just to look at this food
It feels like a sin
I don't care what it takes
I just want to be thin

I passed out today
The fourth time this week
My family is worried
And my friends wont speak

The doctors tell me
There's nothing they can do
I don't care though
Since I am wearing a 2

Today is the first day
I've eaten is so long
Who knew a little girl
Could be so strong

My body won't function
My heart began to fail
My hair is falling out
And I'm so very pale

I died with a smile
What Can I say ?
70 lbs was all that I weighed

I know what I did
Was also a sin
But to wear a size 2...
I'd do it again

I knew some women suffering from anorexia. I am familiar with their pain and anguish, but there is plenty of hope and they overcame this malady. Nice display of emotion..deeply felt.

powerful emotions expressed really well. i hope you find the strength you need to overcome this - from experience i can tell you that being thinner doesn't make your life perfect, if anything it makes it worse because the process of getting there is painful for you and those who love you. best of luck always, keep writing, Kate x

I hardly ate as it was...but I never went as far as to starve myself. In Middle and High School I was a kid size 14 (woman size 0-2) and remember my gymnastics teacher telling me I needed to lose a few pounds...If I had listened to him I may very well have ended up like the girl in your poem. I remember pondering over whether or not to follow his advice...

Great write...Definately brought back some memories.

Yvonne

great progression...this poem is playful with the counting, but scary in the physical digression, I like it a lot!
