You’re up, I turn
turn back, you’re down.
Loving you’s like riding
on a merry-go-round.
First you tell me you adore me
then you turn and slap my face.
I begin to think you love me
then you put me in my place.
Say the word I’m in the saddle
up and down another day.
Understanding all your sorrows
kissing all your tears away.
Chasing happiness in circles
never letting up the pace.
Hoping I will be a winner
knowing no one wins this race.
Wooden horses just mean trouble,
ask a Trojan hear him say,
twenty five cents gets you nowhere,
where you started’s where you’ll stay.
On a merry-go-round you’ve got me
leaning out to grab a ring.
Listening to the lonely music
every now and then I sing.
You’re up, I turn
turn back, you’re down.
Loving you’s like riding
on a merry-go-round.

similar to the 'roller coaster' image most use with love or emotions or life... but a more simplistic, child-like image... the way love should be. carefree and childlike, but skewed and becomes complicated.
i love the images and word choice and rhymes here... excellent!!
