Purify

Topic: goodbyepoetry

Cold, starry night
I set with a plan
Been getting ready for awhile
I've prepared as much as I can
Shut the door behind me
My heavy breathing fills the room
It's a long way to come, but
My satisfaction will come soon
Pull out the lighter
And the old match that I found
Throw down your notes
The click is the only sound
A single flame dances
Just a taste of what's to come
Bring the cold metal to my lips
A flavor of abandon on my tongue
Touch the two together
Like passion, they alight
Flickering as one, like us
They describe how we unite.

Toss the match to the floor
Watch the flames grow around me
Know, without any despair
That this is what I need
Close my eyes, breathe in the smoke
It's hot, like the fire within
Purifying my being, prespirating as I heal
No more desolation, not a single sin
I am cleansing myself for you
In a dancing sea of orange and red
Not a scream, not a single sound
Not a soul woken in bed.

When you find that note tomorrow
When you read it, shaking in disbelief
Know that our souls are one now
I am taken care of; no need to grieve.

Because once I opened my eyes
I felt calm despite the burning pain
I saw an angel, her halo alight
As around us, the ceiling began to rain
She took my hand gently; hers was cold as ice
Despite the heat surrounding, she looked so nice
Without a word
She nodded
And touched my burning body
Blurry, my vision became
She eased the pain
And I could endure
I finally felt cool, like the sea
I finally felt pure.

The title caught me, an interesting write.
It is deep on so many levels.
