I Beg

Grief

Abort a baby,
Kill a baby,
Babies die, die, die.
So helpless, so defenseless
And yet they want you dead.
I see those girls around me,
mercilessly eliminatiing their "mistakes"
But what about me?
I loved my baby,
would have done anything for my baby,
but that still wasn't enough to save his life.
They carelessly toss their babies away,
happy to release their impending responsibilities.
And I cry every night alone in bed,
thinking of what might have been.
And I cut at my skin,
trying to cast out the depression festering there.
And I can't even look in the mirror anymore,
knowing what pain lingers under that calm exterior.
I see the pregnant women
on the streets, on TV, in magazines
and I'm jealous of what they have.
Everywhere reminds me of him.
I beg for death at times
and think of ways to make it mine.
But mainly, I beg for help.
Help me before I break.
Save me before I'm too far gone.
I scream
yet no one hears me.
Reverberating off the walls,
my own cries for salvation
slap me in the face.
