anguished
|
She injures my dreams with her sickness,
her needy, desperate fingers scratching
at my memories,
a shriveled scavenger hunting for the
fragments of a mother's love.
a carcass blooms with it's dark odors,
meatless -
you swallow what's left
in the soul of those bones.
a lullaby.
a smile,
soft and intimate.
a final embrace.
O fragile child, sweet victim,
end this agonized remembering!
you will find her in her kingdom
of shadows,
white and endlessly vertical,
for you are an ant,
and she holds the sun
in one hand,
that great magnified eye,
and you smile as she burns you
into nothing,
for you felt her touch,
and it was no longer cold.
