A Danger To Myself

Locked behind the bars of loneliness
Agonized at worst
Broken at best
Each moment ticks on so very slowly
It's cold outside
Starting to snow
I am a prisoner of my own war
Is my sentence death
Misery forever more
The key is hanging too high to reach
A teacher stumbling
Too high to teach
That is how I feel at the time
I am a poet
Rhyme after rhyme
Caught in the tide; soon I will be gone
No time for goodbyes
No time to move on
Each guard passing by is my savior
Or perhaps my enemy
My conscience never
Whispers telling me to run away
Voices echoing
Winds do not have a say...
Caged in, walls surrounding; doom on a shelf
A danger to public, perhaps
But a danger to myself?

O wow... This was an interesting read :) Well done on expressing your confusion with the world's perception, acts and such... and even better so when you add your own insights and acts that coincide :) lovely poem... deep and rich. |
