He Who Lives On Ventry Bay

Contributed by dots on Wednesday, 22nd April 2009 @ 03:38:00 PM in AEST
Topic: ApologyPoetry

He sat at the new wooden table,
Now thin and frail, his face told thousands.
I thought of the man I once knew,
Strong. Happy. Love. Here.

Long ago now he bid farewell to that dip,
Welcomed the alien shores.
She thought of the young man she met there,
Strong. Happy. Love. Here.

He sat in his rocking chair, played cards with the kids.
Watching the red bopping up to the Páirc,
They thought of the life he had made for them,
Strong. Happy. Love. Here.

This trip to his home of long ago,
A chance to part with brothers,
They thought of the boy they grew up with,
Strong. Happy. Love. Here.

We spoke that day by the wooden table
of depression and cups of tea.
Words failed me then to reassure
That strangers could not take our love.
I visit that table, that wooden table,
I speak, I speak, I speak.
The green dip looming in the background,
The whooshing sea shore.

He was Strong and Happy,
He is Loved and Here.

Bravo! Bravo! Oh my goodness, where to start?
Your poem was refreshing! Just wondrous really. I thought you had a very strong signature in your poetry.

Your poem is very full and embodies depth with words that dramatically captures the reader.

Loved, absolutely loved the title as well.

Thank you.

Kie

I mirror Kie, so much emotion and depth.
Something I really loved was strong, happy love here
dang that is a powerful combo and poetic.

Snappy write. Loved it.

Michelle
