The Death of My Muse

Contributed by FleurdeSang on Tuesday, 21st April 2009 @ 06:46:05 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I am the color of silence.

a dark, formless tragedy,
corroding.

a sullen throb chants
beneath my skin,
a slow torment,
thick, obstinate,

empty of her beauty,
her bitter songs.

She is a pillar of stone,
my milkless muse,
revealing nothing,
a vast pearl,
chiseled cold perfection.

She is a cruel mother.

- those unborn, undone,
the dying syllables,
the rodent bones of a
dismembered reverie,

lay useless in her marble womb.

This was an accidental birthing -

the last fetus she will offer
such dark, unripened fruit.

I am horizontal and stagnant,
a paralyzed vigil to my stoic queen,

I offer the red bloom of
my heart for her
to settle in,
to spread her
iridescent cancer.

She merely sleeps.

Yeah...you DEFINITELY have a knack
for the dark stuff. This was just mesmerizing. Intoxicating. I absolutely adored it.
I too am "horizontal and stagnant."

I'm so incredibly glad that I was led to you.
I applaud you and this exceptional poem.

Be well,
~dawn

There are a couple of words that I cannot type here so I'm gonna go with this:

This has got to be the absolute best poem I have ever read on writers block!!!

And if I have that interpretation wrong, please let me wallow in my ignorance for a while.

Thanks

Tim

For a long while I have always been a fan of your work and I am so happy that you are back here posting.

You ride the night of darkness well in verse.

I will also mirror both the above comments.

Bravo!

Hugs
Michelle

a dark and strangely petrifying depiction of brilliance,
i have never read your work but that will change,

i absolutely loved the opening lines, and from there it was just stunning, the visceral descriptions and clear passion in your words only leant to the fabulous writing and dark dark brutality of your words!!!

fantastic work my friend!!

keep it up!!
