I Know

Contributed by MoonlightKiss on Monday, 20th April 2009 @ 12:32:40 PM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

I know you're scared; I hear your whimpers of fear
Please don't cry; I will wipe away every tear
Tell me what's wrong, because I am listening my dear
I hate seeing anyone so sad that's so near.
I know you're afraid; I feel you trembling against me
Please, cry into my shoulder as much as you need
And I will hold you, safe in my arms; don't flee
You're secure and warm, protected from misery.

I know what's happened to you in the past
How many times you've been broken, hurt and slashed
And I know of the betrayal from the last
I saw how he treated you; like his useless trash.
Can you take in my words, take my promise to heart
Because I want to help keep you from falling apart
And you should know that I've been devoted from the start
You're a unique beauty, a perfect work of art.

Beneath your tough exterior, I knew you are weak
And you say you're abandoned; you say you've grown bleak
Let your actions talk, shh girl, don't speak
There's no reason to search, because I'm who you seek.
I know you believe you don't deserve another try
But I think different; and as life passes us by
I will love you; girl, don't be shy
And as long as I'm here, you will never cry.

I like the passion you express in your poems. In this one the sound and flow of the line "Let your actions talk, shh girl, don't speak" appeals to me.
