In fallow fields where cattle mew
paling bodies as faded flowers die
there the failing reaper sews
‘neath a pale and sickly sky
Their greying eyes skyward move
where dust clouds form in turn
where once the sun did cry its love
acid raindrops the earth to burn
Twisted pine trees grasp for earth
and shadowed moths’ spirits wait
and all these dark things give birth
to these hollow visions the mind creates
Pale as moonlight you’ll see me
my mangled form you’ll find
look deep enough you will find me
in the darkest corners of my mind

I rather liked this, except maybe line 8 was a little hard to follow, I suppose because of the word order. Nicely done. |
