Looking back at Calvary,
Oh how clearly I can see,
A cross-meant for me,
Washed in His blood
Washed in the blood of He,
Who came though He is Deity,
To suffer the shame, the indignity,
Of my hearts arrogance and pride!
Oh, yes friends can't you see?
It was my heart that so selfishly,
Could see little more than "me",
That compelled Him to come.
The God whose heart so loved me,
He disdained the indignity, the agony
Of my nailing Him to that tree,
As nothing before love.
Now I look upon that blessed lea,
Remembering the blood He shed for me,
Heart, soul bowed upon bended knee,
Thanking Him for His love.
No, he's no longer at Calvary,
He's right here inside of me,
And you too, if only you can see
The cross of Calvary.
