I finally had forgotten
The closet door was shut
The skeleton promised never to show again
Yet always whispered threats of “what if” and “but”
I cant imagine life without you
But cannot utter your name
Even a silly phrase of yours
Is bound to cause me pain
Your message beat and threw me
Into a suffocating, dark abyss
I lied all through the exit
Cause its you I’ll always miss
I cant do anything but regret this
The feelings are still there
Never want to see your face again
But that’s something I cant bear
Ive always wanted to love you
But its something I cant do
So we repeated the all too well-known lines
Its me, my friend, not you

I really like the way you conveyed that ol' feeling that I am sure many of us have dealt with....that fight within ourselves of we want to remember but then don't; we want to love them but then don't. Well expressed and it flowed along pretty good too.
