-*- THE BRIGHT STAR FROM MY HEART -*-

Contributed by venkat on Thursday, 9th April 2009 @ 06:28:04 AM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

* * *
When my thoughts turned within I was lost
In a wild desert of an ancient land of death-
As I entered the basement of an old pyramid
I saw a white beauty on a bed gasping for breath
Her eyes were pallid pellets and her face lusterless
Below her bed there’s a water bowl on strewn sands
Then I heard her whisper “Lord, I am your Earth,”
And then I found my self in the street of a dark city
On the borders between the Sun and Moon, there
Then, I watched a battle between the demons and
Angels. A God came and hurled his thunder bolt
Upon my chest which made a fiery split looked
Like a cross mark whence forth my blood gushed
Out as a fountain of splendorous heavenly light
And this effulgence of my heart turned into a star
That had taken its course in the sky towards west!
* * *

* this was based on a true experience in a dream like vision
that I had in the year 1968 nearly forty one years ago-venkat

I would LOVE to hear more about this dream.

I started reading your poem and I was amazed right from the beginning. I love the way you play with words, your elegance, sprititual wisdom and your signature poetic style.

"I saw a white beauty on a bed gasping for breath
Her eyes were pallid pellets and her face lusterless
Below her bed there’s a water bowl on strewn sands"

The above portion that i've quoted is my favorite! I wish, truly wish to write with that kind of beauty.

Venkat, dear friend. I am remiss in not getting here sooner. Still, better late than never. First off, let me say that I believe that dreams are very powerful. That they tell us much more than we can ever guess, so I always applaud anyone who is wise enough to pen theirs down. That being said, I must say that I found your vision to be very powerful. Having been to Egypt, and into a pyramid, I really loved the line you used in that part:

"In a wild desert of an ancient land of death-"

Truth, that. Though Egypt lives, it remains eternally remembered for it's dead...

And when you rose to watch the battle.... I've had that kind of dream before and it was awe inspiring, to say the least. It's not hard to believe that this very things has happened before....

You close with such a beautiful image. All that was within you, becoming a star. Perhaps, your very own North Star? A powerful idea that.

I can only imagine that a man, such as yourself, found great comfort and strength from this vision. I know that I would.

Thank you for sharing this truly lovely piece with us. Fantastic job.

Be well,
~dawn
