I Hold My Breath and Count to Ten

Contributed by kismetkills on Thursday, 9th April 2009 @ 04:28:38 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

I hold my breath and count to ten,
I close my eyes to feel again.

Thoughts flow smoothly through my mind, drifting to a lucid state,
Piecing together the puzzle that is life, that is death, that is fate,
That is freedom, that is morning, noon, and night, that is this breath,
I am one, I am one, here I stand, where I have just begun,

Beauty so brilliant in all of its shapes and forms, turn heads to what is adorn,
Poor, in rags and shame, covered in mud and grease, who here is to blame?
Angels hang so low under all the stars, under all the dazzles, under all this the sweetest breath,
I am two, I am two, showing my beauty in every hue,

In my bed late at night I shift from side to side,
Back and forth my head turns where my dreams collide,
Am I alive? In this realm where there is only one breath,
I am three, I am three, where the inner eye begins to see,

Under, above, below, what goes up must come down, what begins must come around,
Shock! Shock! Strong bones tighten up under fire, give him bravery, give him hope, give him a desire!,
Give them a choice, to be at peace or to be raging without cease, give them one more breath,
I am four, I am four, I demolish, I destroy, I'll steal your heart because I am war,

Sometimes it's meaningful, sometimes it's a whim, sometimes it's magic,
On the edge we wonder what we should see? Is it glorious or is it tragedy?,
But nonetheless he did it for her, this leap of faith and love, all for her, his last breath,
I am five, I am five, because eventually we all must take the dive,

She's evil, oh so evil with eyes that burn upon a wick,
Night and night and night again so she may dance on top of her candlestick,
Come too close and you'll be sorry, from inward to out, you'll pay with your breath,
I am six, I am six, get what I want because I never run out of tricks,

Pound, pound, pounding chest, so hard to be ridded from,
Beats and beats just over and over like a never ending drum,
End me here, end me now, let's be done, please let this be the last breath,
I am seven, I am seven, beating ends here in this sweet heaven,

All the buildings look the same, all the people look the same, all and all, it's all the same,
Show me what's real, show me what's fake, show me what to give, what to take,
Show me these things that seem so unreal, show me how I should feel, show me in just one breath,
I am eight, I am eight, why can't this be love? Why must we hate?,

Mama I hear them coming, closer and closer I hear their cries, see the water in their eyes,
Should I run? Should I stay? Should I accept that this is an ordinary day?
Bitter, bitter is the smell of people young and old, who have just used their last breath,
I am nine, I am nine, in this fiery flesh where the young men dine,

Lepers not seen in the dust and sand, hard to find, hard to lend a hand,
Trouble is ours, trouble is not theirs, for they live a life no one dares,
Pariah lend me your strength to be so fearless of this life, let me risk this breath,
I am ten, I am ten, I bring you life, I bring you death, I bring you one last breath,

I hold my breath and count to ten,
I close my eyes and breathe again.

one little thing's been bothering me that i messed up on. it's the last line and instead of "i close my eyes and breathe again," i wanted to put this instead: "I open my eyes and breathe again."
if i could change that i would, but oh well.
