When the Ides of March run late
and dew-drops long to fall,
at my own "St. Peter's gate"
there in her tree-strewn hall
The worldly mosses seam to fill my heart,
as a lover by and by
and when the bird-song throws its start,
among the crocus' I will lie
For greater love no man has felt,
as to my mind you bring,
faithful when the snow should melt
my gentle Lady Spring.
