Toothache

She don’t belong here,
eighteen years my junior,
but don’t except me to tell her.
She might’ve made a mistake,
took the wrong turn on the
road that she came in on.
No don’t look at me, I’m just
gonna count my blessings
continue being me,
like picking up that paycheck
twenty years on a job I don’t
understand, triple checking
double checked work wondering
just when the axe is gonna fall.
That for some reason hasn’t yet.
Now I guess you’re wondering just how
I could expect anyone reading this
to somehow conjure up these two completely
different thoughts of mine and melt them into
one image feeding off one another for any type
of a sensible logical poem of any merit
is anyone’s guess!
But I awoke with a toothache this morning.
Took some back pain pills the old lady had
laying around in the medicine cabinet,
and these thoughts; well
they just found there way to paper,
and there was no way I could stop them!

Well, in the beginning, I was thinking, don't question it and go with the flow. Ya' know, some people say age is just a number on your license and then as I got to the end, I was wondering if you were possibly hallucinating the whole thing due to the pain pills. whatever the case, an interesting read. I enjoyed it.
