anguished

Look at him, all broken and confused on the floor,
Nothing left to fight with, nothing left any more,
But try he did, tried very hard too,
Decieved he was, nothing he knew was true,
His eyes shot with a story of their own,
Just the slightest of wheezes, the odd moan.
Sleep was no option, the day had failed,
Lying their alone, this time he was begrudged,
How could this happen, where did things go wrong,
Was all he could think of, no longer strong,
Memories of grandeur, faded and more so lost,
Held no comfort anymore, giving up was the cost.
The first bird sang it's beautiful morning song, daylight had awoken,
A glorious day it was to be too, spring has spoken,
The scents of early morning once more cleanse the Spirit,
Buds of early create a sense well being, a decent and important merit,
At last it had come the first signs of a good year,
But forget not 'he' who still lies here.
For lying in solitary was our man of anguish,
But different he was, his candle of life was extinguished,
For the previous day was hard on him,
Too much it was, it turned out grim,
That previous night his soul did crack,
Nothing left to carry, no burden left to hack.
As in the rise to power, there is the fall to basics,
His business had failed, all fell quickly due to statistics,
Bankruptcy had been filed, reputation brushed away,
Lying alone in his makeshift bed, no more dismay,
Gave up he did, was too 'old' to carry on,
It does not matter now, he is too far gone.
