You swear I don’t even know myself
That I’m still just a child
But you over look the insecurities
How self doubt has become my prison cell
All the secrets I’m still keeping
Pretending is so much easier
Then admitting that the pain is real
So with a smirk and another rude remark
I’ll cover up yet one more scar
And I want to share with you everything
But don’t know how
So I swallow my last little bit of pride
Make another joke
And I see the aggravation in your eyes
I try to keep from speaking
But the words still come out
I know I have a lot to learn
But you don’t see how far I’ve already come
All the miracles you’ve performed
When you push and push me
But now I know you see
What I once saw myself
And you’re the key to escape this self made hell
Another gentle kiss, the healing can begin
With heart ach as my witness
I promise you we can start again
