Not Really Goodbye

Topic: SadPoetry

I remember how soft your touch was; you always thought I was made of glass
When we were little we said we'd do great things together; we wanted to rule the world
You were so smart once; can you tell an old friend what happened?
As we got older we grew apart; I am so sorry

I have an old picture of us my friend; it was the old us back before we changed
Do you remember when we were always in the trees; we thought we were monkeys back then
My heart is like stained glass; it is whole but it has been broken into many pieces before
You helped me find John; he put my heart back together

Its not really goodbye; that word is so final
If only I could remember more; i've misplaced several memories
Tell me, my old friend, do you miss the old days?
I could remind you of many times; days that we got into tons of trouble and fun together

I could spend hours telling stories of our youth; we were always on the run
Can I really tell you goodbye; I never thought it would end like this
I am forever lost without you; I feel like i've been stripped of my right arm
You're not really gone my dear friend; I will always have you in my heart
