Our spirit light

Contributed by shelby on Wednesday, 25th March 2009 @ 11:13:24 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I remember hearing stories of days long past.
A time when people not always had a church or pew.
When they walked to the mountain top,
and sang in private their songs of praise.
Hands raised to the Heavens,
their moments with God private, not governed
no fire and brimstone, Heaven or Hell
a calm and loving pathway personal with him.

I remember sitting and listening and visions circling
with wonder through my mind, and I could hear the mountains song
and the pine tree's scent dancing in the breeze
and a feeling of calm with the "rightness of their moments"
delightfully recalled with a far off look and a smile curling her lips.

What happened to "our spirit light"
treading light on feet connecting with forest floor
and emotions spilling, and light of love
being the beacon and sheltering others from the dark?
When people let the spirit be light,
and with held their judgement.......
Letting all have their personal connections
their beliefs and leaving it right where it should be......

in the end, it is between the person and their God...
Least that is where my belief still sits,
on Mountains peak and forests edge
song soft and light, and the spirit is light
and the love resides there still..........

Yeah, now days some people have their churches and their customized Bibles where it says if your spouses illness.... d'oh, wait a minute, I already told you about that one.

Anyway, yep, I would definitely agree with that last stanza. Nicely done, Shall. :-)

Certainly there is an outpouring of emotion in this and the sense of a "need to put it down on paper straightaway".
Yet, it is controlled and flows just the right way

yes, i think people should connect with God, Allah, Buddha or whoever in their own way. religion should not be restrictive, it should free the soul and the mind. a very poignant write, with some nice imagery, good job.

Sweetie, your words are glowing with beauty and truth. I know you've had your
share of ... uhm ... stress, shall we say? in the past years. But this poem is
testament to how beautifully strong and wise your heart truly is.

the last line just resonates through me. "and the love resides there still ......."
damn beautiful hun and ... hopeful. *sigh*

*hugs you tight*
