This beautiful painted face
With hair so black
And eyes so blue
A painted face for the world to see
No-one sees the simmering pain
And no-one hears the cries of hurt
This face so happy,
A countenance so fair
Swirls of pain in a
Heart that’s barely there
A beautiful shell
A withered heart
All that’s left
Is a smile
For a show
That must go on

thought provoking and incisive. it certainly struck a chord with me. i especially liked this bit:
This face so happy,
A countenance so fair
Swirls of pain in a
Heart that’s barely there
great work.

I really like this poem. A great poem about how we must put on that front and our mask so everyone thinks all is well.

Thank you for an excellent read.

i feel what you are saying in this poem, i see your pain. i know myself how the show must go on. but all great actors have to face that last curtain call.
the key is, can we all face the truth? |
