  Social

divided by the sun

Contributed by iodinelove on Monday, 23rd March 2009 @ 01:47:25 AM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

Old friend,

My thoughts are on you tonight, and my heart stirs to speak of you, yet I am afraid that the words have grown old, and that they too share the weariness and the heartbreak that begins to rise in this world.

Often I forget you now, often I dream of other things, but sometimes, in the fits of storm that roll in and scatter the fall leaves and branches of trees, I wake to find your whispers spilling across the window of my chest, and my heart remembers, and my tears forget their place.

At times, I have written you as a mountain towering in grace with the seas of wrath beneath you, and I have written how the winds of chains have weakened you, and bound you to your place of love and sadness.

However, tonight I feel inclined to write you unclenched by the petty prose my fingers put in place of your qualities and faults, and unhinged of the light my heart imparts upon you. Tonight, I wish to write the black unkempt hair, the brown eyes, the loose unfurled smile at resistance with the anger and sadness—that buried deep within you, that denied its own withdrawal, begins to poison you with lies of laughter and delight—but also of your strength, and your passion and love for those who surround you.

Many words have fallen at the threshold of your heart, many silences too, unseen by those who choose to enclose you and comfort you with paltry gifts of laughter. You are hardened, I pity you, and in my love, I love in spite of you, yet in your eyes I see the lily buried in the stone, the winter rose divided by the sun.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
