Stockholm Syndrome

Topic: StoryPoetry

I am a girl, so happy and free.
And oh, how I love it in Stockholm.
I love my fella and he loves me.
And oh, how I love it in Stockholm.

Everything is right, it's all just so.
And oh, how I love it in Stockholm.
Sometimes we argue. There's the occational row.
But oh, how I love him in Stockholm.

He may hit me, or kick me, but hey we're in love.
And oh, how I love him in Stockholm.
He may greet me with a kiss, or a hug, or a shove.
But oh, how I love him in Stockholm.

I know he cares 'cause he says he does.
And oh, how I love him in Stockholm.
He's on his way home from the bar with a buzz.
But oh, how I love him in Stockholm.

He opens the door, he yells, and he swings.
but oh, how I love him in Stockholm.
He yells some more and breaks a few things.
But oh, how I love him in Stockholm.

My eye is a blue, my thigh bluer still.
But oh, how I love him in Stockholm.
He whispers sweet nothings with such pure skill.
And oh, how I love him in Stockholm.

He holds me so tight, he loves me so much.
And oh, how I love him in Stockholm.
I'll sit here and wait, bend at his touch.
For i'll love him forever in Stockholm.

this is an extraordinary piece of writing. the way i interpreted this is that in a violent relationship a woman will put up with a lot, because the man proclaims his love. the man takes advantage of her trust, and uses her as a punchbag to boost his inflated ego and manhood. however you interpret this though, this is a fantastic poem, it really is.

This is a spine chiller, you captured each painful moment with a unique style, this piece is well written.
It is such a sad thing, Stockholm syndrome effects more people than we realize be it an abused woman, child or someone who has been abducted.

This is a good message to send out,

Hugs
Michelle

who hopes this poem was not written due to personal experience in this matter. I have been there and done this, hits close to my heart.
Though I could not be brainwashed or controlled any longer and I left, some never make it to that point. My friend was murdered by her abusive husband so yes I get this all .

Yes, not just a city but a syndrome as well, and as applicable to domestic violence as hostage taking. Strong write, and the repetition works well.

It certainly is puzzling how some, especially women, will put up with such abuse in a relationship.... like what seems for ever. More than one incident is far too long. You definitely put a unique twist on an abusive relationship. Sounds like she found an excellent excuse in her eyes. She repeated it so much she now believes it. :-) Very nicely done.

Thank you for an enjoyable read.

Tim
