I keep the memories of you at bay
Locked within a heavy chest
And shoved into the recesses of my mind
My mental guards stand watch
Always on high alert for any escapees
And though they are diligent
They cannot always stop the wispy memories
Seeping through the joints and into reality
A flash of lightning in my mind
And the image of you is before me
It hardly seems real
It is both haggard from constant use
And distorted from being locked away
Your face is paused in a moment
A moment from long ago
I stop what I am doing
And with trepidation I mentally press play
The movie from my past rolls within my mind
And I once again recount all that had been
Something forgotten jumps forward
Resulting in an involuntary gasp escaping my lips
Followed by a groan of despair
A deadly cocktail of emotions stirs within
And I curse myself for my weakness
My weakness at not being able to resist you
Whether in reality or in my dreams

I think with the way you presented this, it made me feel those emotions. I know holding back memories are hard cause sometimes they do slip through...
