Brothers in Arms,
of a war
they say you lost.
From different backgrounds, different
walks of life,
One white, one black,
the third, Hispanic.
Yet, together you stand
On point, watching,
Watching over the memory
of brothers who did not return.
Brothers who answered their
final roll call many years ago.
So peacefully you stand,
yet always ready,
ready to protect your fallen comrades.
Ready also to bid welcome to
Brothers who made it home
and now come in homage,
or to simply say goodbye
to their brothers
who made the supreme sacrifice

Another touching poem Jim. So heartfelt, and so deep. This was a remarkable piece. Please let your heart sing again.

All of your poems are so touching and poignant. I love reading your work. I have a lot of veterans in my family and most of them have made it home... and some of them haven't. This was such a touching piece. Thank-you for sharing it.
