Sideline Powdering

Contributed by lnnie on Saturday, 14th March 2009 @ 08:40:41 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

They all say
that Love Won't-
Won't happen
for me.

They all say
even if it did
I'd be Unworthy.

They all say
I'm Ugly Image
and Fair
will pass me
every time.

I say you can't see or measure
worth
from exteriors
flaunted
and flirts displayed
for my faith is
that what's good inside
will abide
and gain it's due in time.

Prettiness
is Fickle True
and lacks Devotion
to last;
just as it attracts
flies
it too
can not abide
worship
from beaus
who
in time
fail to satisfy.

Steady Devotion
is Love's True Name
for like the tortoise
is there
at the end of the race
while Pretty
lingers
on the sidelines
powdering
its pretty face

Great Job...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....
Love does come around, just have to keep your eyes open no matter what "They" say....
Keep it up!
Steve

I happened past your poem and the title interested me. I thought well i'll make this one the last one I read tonight. WOW am I glad. Your writing flat out impresses me. Seriously, wowsers, it does.

I agree that what lies beneath the skin is the absolute most important attribute. But sometimes pretty people can also be just as pretty inside. Unfortunately, eye candy tends to rule.

Your writing is beautiful, powerful, insightful and filled with wisdom.

Ya know, there are so many poems with messages and of course this is no exception. This is definitely a message more people need to live by. The exception with this poem and what I have found is that with all your poetry is your talent is extraordinary. And to quote another one of my favorite poetesses, Kie, "Your writing is beautiful, powerful, insightful and filled with wisdom." Yeah, what she said plus what I said = one awesome poetess.

Wow, and I just had a de ja vu. What does that have to do with anything....I don't know but I generally type like I talk... so anywho, take care.

Tim
