I didn't have much, that we both knew
But had I could, I'd give it all to you
You decided to change, the rules of the game
You couldn't lose, the outcome's the same
You needn't use, to feel validated
I'm not the past, I'm not "created"
Your place, it was, my sanctuary
It's gone, you moved, everything's buried
I wish I could be, part of your life
But I'm through chasing, and you hold a knife
I miss you, Snugs, that is so real
I have lots of time, time left to heal

I think the writer of this poem is telling the person how much they care about them. But is not going to plead or beg anymore. In other words has done all they can do on their part. Good luck to you whoever you are. Because if you have to GIVE all the time to a relationship its not worth it. |

I agree with the comment above. relationships have to be give AND take. There are times when you give more than you receive and vice versa but overall it should be equal.

My poem is the last of (an unplanned) set of four.
The preceding three chronically my relationship with a wonderful woman.. and how it changed in a very short period of time into something (negative) neither of us wanted or expected. She ended it by leaving me in a 'car crash' of emotion and turmoil.
Here in this poem, I finally have realized that, she has no compassion for my anguish, nor the pain i was going through (i.e., she made no effort to understand even though i implored her to do so, and help me).
To clarify, when we gave, we gave equally. When I asked for too much, she left me on my knees, wondering what happened. Now I have, and need, lots of "time left to heal"
