Fought with friend, called foe
Nothing said made sense one bit,
To whom and what is she reacting,
Because no one can make sense of it.
Opening her mind with a crowbar,
Yielding like a set jaw, a deadly stare,
Maybe then you’ll come to realize
How horrifying it was for her to be there.
Flashbacks of locked down memories
His reflection seen within so-called friend
For the first time in ages, she lost control
But this time, she could make it all end.
Friend’s a choice, father a forced burden
This time, she chose to escape without delay,
Though the world misunderstood,
It afforded her just one more peaceful day.
But this peace was invisible within
As the onlooker outcry thundered
They felt sympathy for the fallen,
Thinking she had badly blundered.
But no, no, they just couldn’t see
She owed it to herself, surely, at last,
If she hadn’t, she would at once deny
The lessons taught by trespasses past.
Owed to herself, the badly beaten,
Internally bruised, with pain inflamed
But not this time, she zealously refused
For nothing undeserved will she be blamed.

Empathy & sympathy can be both gifts & burdens.
Made this a painful read, even though the end gives you hope.
It is a great poem "because of" this and not "in spite of"
(just to clarify).
What I wanted to say was: I liked it!
I'll stop digging here :s |

hm, im confused on what this is about. I had the first 2 paragraphs and then I got lost.. but your play on words still kept me interested until the end. Perhaps the uncertainty will keep me reading again..and again... yep, it will! |
