What Happened to Forever and Ever

Can I ask you something?
Have you ever had love and lost love?
If not I suggest you not read this,
Because these words will mean nothing to you.
But to my friends reading this who have loved and lost I ask,
Does it still hurt?
Do you too remember that oh so vivid day,
When she crushed your heart?
Do you still feel that excruciating pain that she left you with?
Do you still wonder if it was your fault?
Is it still hard for you to have a good day,
Because you know as soon as you come home you start to think of her?
Does it still take an extra half an hour for you to fall asleep,
Because you cant get her out of your mind.
Do you still miss the softness of her lips,
Or the warmth of her body?
Do you still miss the long walks, and the beautiful talks?
Do you still miss her scent?
Do you still miss the way she would flip her hair,
Or the strut in her walk?
Do you miss waking up
And she was right by your side?
Do you still recall her laugh?
How about her smile,
Or her voice;
Do you still remember that?
Do you still remember the first time she said hello,
Or the last time she said goodbye.
Do you miss her saying “I love you”?
I ask these questions because,
I wonder if I’m the only one.
You loved me at one time this I do not question.
I just wonder what happened?
Why, why did you leave?
You were my sun my moon and my stars.
You were the air to my lungs,
And the blood to my veins.
You gave me inspiration to wake up every morning.
You were my guidance,
My guardian angel.
With this knowledge you still left.
You said you would love me forever and ever.
But I guess forever and ever just doesn’t last,
Forever and ever.

| Loss is something that is inevitable in relationships. Relationships are a breeding ground for pain and suffering, but also quintessential happiness if you find the right person. Although the most recent part I experienced was heart-wrenching. It always is. But you have to keep in mind: For every person you find, there is always someone better which is what makes it so difficult for some to settle down. When you find that person though, there isn't anything that burns brighter than the fire of love. Props my friend, excellent poem. I wish you the best of luck. |
