And love came to me and a hush she did query
Will you, can you endure what I have given
To be naked as death and as tired and weary
Stripped of all pride, to this to be striven
Far more she declared, before your reply
I shall mill you down, to the finest of flour
Hurt you, torment you and as a child cry
Your tears they shall flow like rain that is dour
Can you and will you endure this I give
The pain of true love even not if returned
That moment without which there is not to live
Let me blacken your soul till it’s all that is burned
Give me her love for there is none any other
I give to her all of me, and many another

Interesting last line.
I sense both honesty and ambiguity in the lines, well done. |
