Queen of Posture

Contributed by Crookedpoet09 on Thursday, 5th March 2009 @ 09:07:14 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

A queen of posture sitting in a chair
She turns to see a gentleman standing there
Asking his name he replies “it’s George”
He says her name is “beautiful of course”

Taking her hand they journey to a dance
Ignoring the time they give love a chance
Swinging and singing, twisting and turning
They both fall onto the floor with knees hurting

A dress now darkened by the floor’s skin
But a heart that was clean as it was to begin
A twinkle in her eye that gave George the shake
But kissing her quickly before it’s too late

She smiles and giggles as if she were shy
Not helping the stare as they were eye to eye
Taking his hat off and bowing polite
She knew this was to last all of the night

A run through the court up to the master’s room
Hearts were to beat like flowers that bloomed
Nine months later and a family confirmed
Years of beauty with boy’s heads to turn

Now they’ve both settled down as the world grows
Watching their daughter getting older and know
That she will depart from this life so fair
To become a queen of posture, sitting in a chair
