What Shall I Do With Him?

Contributed by Eireannach on Wednesday, 4th March 2009 @ 02:13:19 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

Hear Him fall upon His face
'Neath olive trees in pale moonlight
His sweat was blood, in agony
Was it that He prayed for me?

Torches lighting up the night
Swords and spears in whitened grips
N'er love and sorrow met like this
Submitting to betrayal's kiss

As He stood before the priests
He wouldn't even speak a word
Until asked if He's the One
Said "Yes, I am God's Holy Son"

Forbidden they to take His life
They took Him then to Roman law
Found innocent through all their jeers
He looked at them with loving tears

Pilate said "I find no wrong."
Yet still they shouted "Crucify!"
So standing at the scourging stone
His stripes my healing did atone

See Him as He was that day
Crown of thorns and robe of red
Dignity like n'er was seen
Emitted from the Nazarene

Yet on the cross He bore it all
For every person ever born
For future, present and the past
The once for all has come at last

When at the empty garden tomb
Taking time there to reflect
Since He has taken all my sin
I ask, "What shall I do with Him?"

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
