The First Day of Rain

Contributed by WordSlinger on Tuesday, 3rd March 2009 @ 05:34:54 PM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

The garden was full of sorrow
Songbirds and unusual winds whistled a rhyme
Clouds caused to appear and cast down darkness
For this was the first day the sun didn't shine
The serpent moonstruck the night before
and sin shall be with man forevermore
Our Lord shouts and screams
his tears fall from heaven and spring the streams
Man shall live upon the soil
work his hands as black as oil
Women who bear children shall have intense pain
For this was the Lord's punishment
For this was the first day of rain

First let me say, you are talented. I know that probably seems cliche' but you are really talented. The way you bring such feeling with your words, just the words you use in each stanza show an obvious talent.

It is a wonderful religious poem. But let me emphasize again, you've got obvious talent and I hope you will keep on writing and becoming more and more.

Mr. Wordslinger, you have that quality that makes me want to read poetry.
