anguished
|
Sinking into a bottomless pit of despair,
Desperately clutching for the hand to release me
From this lonely prison of solitude.
To struggle only makes me sink faster
Towards the bottom of this pit that is life;
Yet if I am passive and cease to struggle,
I will not sink, I will not suffocate,
But will only live out my days alone,
Without Love.
Should I keep struggling to reach the hand which may never come
To free me from my self-inflicted prison?
Or should I consign to my fate and accept
That there is no one?
I can see the sun above me,
But as I slowly descend,
My hand still grasping in vain,
The light above grows dimmer and dimmer,
Until all that is left is crushing blackness,
And utter despair.
