Bells rang out from the churchtop
Early sometime this morning
Unaware that the springtime air
Would soon enough be storming
Young man returning home from war
Promises love to her forever more
Never did they will the sky to be scorched
But their union lives on, perpetual dawn.
Bells peal out from the firehouse
Early sometime this morning
Their home destroyed, lost to the void
Would someday be reforming
Building their life from determination
Unconcerned about social station
They’ve love and each other, come and pray, son
They will trust in God, give all that they’ve got.
Bells rang out from the churchtop
and the loved ones all were mourning
Bidding farewell to life and to hell
His life serves as a warning
