There's a sad man in the mirror
He's looking right at me...in me
I can't seem to avoid his stare
He can't seem to avoid mine
His eyes...oh his eyes...
Piercing...accusing...pleading
I can read his pain and anguish
Dare I think he can read mine
No matter the light...the dark
He is always there...searching
Hoping I will find him there
Compelling me to find him there
The lines on his face...familiar
He traces his as I trace mine
Our hands moving in unison
Like some tragic pantomime
How is he able to read my thoughts
When I talk to him we echo
Voicing the words I speak out loud
Matching me scream for scream
Sometimes he cries...tears of the lonely
I feel them splash out of my eyes
He seems to know my every emotion
Mirroring them...exposing them
On some days he looks happy...outside
But I can feel his torment churning within
The eyes always tell the true story
Lost and alone...seeking connection
His heart's been broken...I hear myself say
Scars upon scars...nobody to soothe them
I know what it feels like...hurts like
We ache inside sharing the same pain
He lets his guard down around me
No reason to hide himself from me
He knows that I know...that he knows
No secrets between us...about us
Another day...another day...
The monotony is so draining
I can see it wear on him
I wonder if it's doing the same to me
I thought he was gone one time
Steam rolling down the glass surface
I wiped it away and kept looking
Then there he was...hiding behind the mist
He didn't seem glad to see me
He looked tired and haggard...worn
I looked away...a little ashamed
As I watched him do the same
I cannot escape him...avoid him
But it's been a long time since I've tried
His eyes...oh his eyes...
Why can't I stop looking into his eyes
I 've come to accept the sad man in the mirror
He is part of me now...and then
I know what he wants...what he needs...desires
He tells me so...and I listen

This is sad but in the same sense I can see you having a conversation in the mirror and that part is a bit funny.
Sorry don't mean that in a bad way.
Good writing.
Huggs, blessings,

I know the feeling.
Even though I have to admit that the movie playing in my head while reading is pretty weird. |
