Same Coin

Here’s the taste of freedom
bitter on the tongue
the sweet song of innocence
silent and unsung
wondrous raptures of the heart
beating down to nought
the hopes of the ages
forgotten and unsought
Yet:
there shines a light of passion
blinding in its rays
the joy of the knowing
that looks to better days
the wonder of the moment
held in fresher eyes
and memories of the moments
that leave us sore but wise.

Growing up, trouble times, life experiences, that teach us and then turn to hope...? hopefully. Funny, I was thinking about optimism just before I read this / discovered this. Nicely done.
Take care,
