So this is how my last years
are gonna go.
Sunshine in my face just about everyday,
new friends like me forced here,
yet swearing up and down..
‘They were gonna come anyway’.
Here comes that social security check
the third of every month a pension
on or about the fifteen,
and so there’s no mistakes.
Directly deposited into checking account
with one kids name on it.
So it could be zeroed out
and I could get over on the tax man
one last time.
When my heart screams out, stops beating.
The way their moms did,
and they send me home back up North
to that plot where she quietly waits
no doubt ***** at me
that I took my sweet time in coming.
