Without you here
it’s not the same;
memory’s chilled by winter winds
hopes and dreams
forget to fly, and
sink like stones in sluggish streams.
Partners, lovers, friends allied
blank returns to echoed thoughts;
turned against by some divide
before assurance could be sought.
Those promised vows never said,
meandering, forever lost, on
trails that lead to who knows where;
paths we always feared to tread.
Yes, happiness and comfort too;
admirers who sing my name
time and many things to do, but
without you here, it’s not the same.
