Racism, Death, and The Government. (I'm not proud)

Contributed by razorbladekisses on Sunday, 8th February 2009 @ 03:12:44 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

At what point is racism over?
When we can look at a human, and say not
"He is black," but,
"He is man."?
It is no greater today than it was yesterday
Just because you hold your tongue,
does it make you all that much better?

When is it alright for someone to die?
When they've murdered countless numbers of people?
If one person is held responsible for murdering the many and punished with death
Have we held those who have killed the few responsible for their actions?
When is murder ever justified?
Killing a murder isn't all that much better, is it?
It's an eye for an eye
When will the world go blind?
Perhaps we already are

Public officials are the faces of the government
Held there with puppet strings
They are the people to blame
It's all a lie
A lie that is fed to the people of America
They grant us our rights
Then slowly rip them away
They let us think we are in control
The government twists and distorts our view
We think these faces are the ones controlling us
When really it's just the puppeteer
The man behind the face is who laughs at us
As we believe their every lie

Can the lie be better than the truth?
When can we say we're proud of all the lies?
Does it matter if it's a white lie?
Look the truth straight in the eye!
Fear might try and stop you
But don't you want your vision to be clear?

When will our country see
This place is nothing but a picture full of lies
And deceit?
They keep shoveling their words down our throats
Trying not to let us see

For many reasons
I am not proud to be an American
Some people might say,
"**** you," or "Leave."
But I live here, this is my home
I am an American
Only because this is where I was conceived
You can go live the, "American dream"
While I just live my life
Day by day

Sitting on the sidelines
Watching
As our empire falls to the ground
We could have saved it
But our apathetic communities and unjust society
Never strived to make a difference
After all, what can one person do?
As a whole we need to stand
As a whole we will survive

The whole entire world is corrupted
Lies mock the very essence of the human race
We think we are all-mighty
But we could all perish in the blink of an eye
Humans are brutal self centered beasts
I am not saying I am any better
I am not the best of human beings
If anything
I myself am among the many
Not-so-great of people

And now I say,
Good day

This very poem might strike you as
controversial
Maybe to you it's just trash
Or perhaps this might make you think
And re-think everything
However this might affect you
Thank you
You're such a great audience...

Well, I'd definitely say it's thought provoking.

I know I have had many of the same thoughts. I also think when will it all end and that wow, these conversations are endless. Will it ever really change? It kinda sorta gives me a headache sometimes.

As far as a title....hmmmm.... Thoughts of A Sane Man? or My Tirade ... although, it's the title that caught my eye.

Anyway, pretty good write.

This? It's an eye for an eye
When will the world go blind?

I find that profound.

Take care,

Tim

the first paragraph is absolutely spot on. the ideal society is a colorblind society. i like the fact that you were frank and honest, it was refreshing. keep up the good work.
