A beautiful vision

Contributed by xaviera on Saturday, 7th February 2009 @ 11:12:50 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

The moon is shining bright
In all its grandeur
Dazzling like a diamond in the starless sky
I can see the picturesque beauty through the skylight
A treat for my eyes, oh what a sight!

The silence of the night fills my ears
Somewhere, a lonely cricket chirps,
I feel like the little cricket lost in the woods
Engulfed in the obscurity of the darkness.
My mind is wandering everywhere
Millions of impulsive thoughts run through my head
Like a swift stream flows downhill.

Unable to contain myself, I venture out into the unexplored shadows
The never ending woods are alive with silent creatures of the night
The winding path seems to be infinite, yet, I move on....

Now, I smell something alien,
But the scent is pleasing and sensual....
Suddenly, the narrow trail widens into
A large clearing.
A huge stretch of shimmering black meets my eye.
The mighty ocean looks dangerous.
Monstrous waves splashing with a force
Strong enough to devour any craft.
The high tides seem to dance to the tunes of the howling wind.

As I move along the beach
I see a glow.
It looks out of reach
That, I know.
Like a serpent hypnotized by the charmer,
I am mesmerized by the enigmatic glow.
The glow leads me to a beautiful cliff
The top offers the most captivating view.
I see nature in all its glory
The ocean, the distant mountains, the woods and the prairies....
All lie in front of me.
I feel like a proud empress at whose feet,
The world lies; saluting her.....
I spread my arms and embrace the cool wind
A serene smile spreads on my lips.
So many things seem clearer, solutions come into light.
My mind finds solace, my heart finds peace,
And my reflections seem right.
I open my eyes and find myself on my bed
I am back to my safe haven, and there are so many tasks ahead.
The real path is not as beautiful as the one in my dream
Nevertheless, it must be trodden by me, come what may............

I like the imagery, and I really hope you will stay on the site with us =). This is absolutely wonderful. I usually write only a few stanzas and never find the time, in dream or awake, to get that special feeling of absolute serenity. Calmness. Wonderful comparisons with aspects of nature you used. I must admit, it would take me many tries to write something like this. Just the right length for its purpose. It actually slowed me down reading it (a good thing). It was very soothing and relaxing. Very good job. 5 stars =). Either I'm beginning to like poetry a LOT more, or people have been posting better and better poems lately =).

Holy censored!
Wow, what a dream. Would make me not want to wake up.
This is absolutely stunning. Your descriptive, very visual, imagery is excellent! This was a very captivating poem. Odd that I read it several times last night and thought I had left a comment then. Came back to read it again and thought, hey where in the world is my comment? Well, here it is now!!!

Very enjoyable. Thank you,

Tim
